Administrative Assistant

Are you looking for an administrative role in a friendly department?  The Trauma and Orthopaedic Department could be the place for you.  We have a permanent position for an Administrative Assistant at Musgrove Park Hospital.


Main duties of the job


Duties include liaising with the clinical and secretarial team and assisting with the smooth running of the department, typing of patient correspondence and working with Excel spreadsheets

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We welcome applications with excellent IT skills, a good typing speed and administrative experience.  Audio typing is required, as well as a basic knowledge of Excel as data entry is also part of this busy role.

A short medical audio transcription test may form part of the interview process.

Qualifications and training

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of general education
  • NVQ2 or similar qualification in business administration
Desirable criteria
  • IT qualification
  • Touch typing/audio typing


Essential criteria
  • Minimum 1 year administration experience within past 3 years
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience of working as a team within the past 3 years
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting/previous NHS experience in admin processes
