You don’t have to be a Social Worker to make a difference. There is so much that goes on behind the scenes to support our mainstream staff in Children’s Social Care. That’s why we are looking for an administrator to join us.
You’ll work as part of a small and dedicated team within Children’s Social Care, supporting operational colleagues who work with children, their parents and carers in Somerset.
So why come and work with us? This is what some of our current business support colleagues had to say about their role;
“I thoroughly enjoy working with the amazing colleagues that are part of Children’s Social Care. Our team is always supportive of each other, and nothing is ever too much trouble when you need help.”
“Being part of Business Support within Children’s Social Care is a really rewarding job, it’s different to any other administrative role I’ve held. You can really feel and see the difference you make each day assisting our Social Worker colleagues and helping facilitate the support they offer to our clients. No two working days are the same, there is so much variety and depth to the role!”
Here’s what you can expect to be doing
You will really be helping to improve the outcomes for vulnerable children and their families in Somerset by providing the admin support that allows our Children with Disability Service to work directly with children and families.
You’ll help the team to create the Short Breaks activity calendar that is available to over 3500 families in Somerset, offering opportunities for children, their parents and carers, access to activities and events across Somerset.
There will also be opportunities to join the team on some of the calendar events and away days.
The nature of the work is sensitive and highly confidential.
The work is varied and always busy, and you will undertake a variety of tasks including;
- Booking children and families on to short break activities
- Supporting with grant funding requests and financial commitment activities
- Collaborative working with providers, both internal and external
- Database monitoring and updating
- Taking telephone calls
- Monitoring and responding to email requests
Your dedicated line manager and team colleagues will support you with a comprehensive training and induction programme.
There are lots of opportunities for development and career progression within our Children’s Services Business Support teams. All of our current Business Support Officers and Business Support Managers joined us as Business Support Assistants. We also have many former Business Support colleagues who have been inspired to take an operational career path into Social Care and have been supported by us to do this.
