Organisation Information: 

Bouygues Travaux Publics (TP) and Laing O’Rourke, two of Europe’s most dynamic engineering and construction specialists, are working together in a joint venture named BYLOR to deliver the main civil engineering works at Hinkley Point C (HPC) worth over £2.8 billion. Bylor are pushing the boundaries of innovation and modern technology while delivering high quality construction on a massive scale. Bylor have already broken the UK record for the largest continuous concrete pour of 9,000m3 of concrete. Purpose of the role:

  • The Administration roles are a key part of the joint venture running efficiently, helping to deliver our commitments, goals, and objectives on HPC.
  • We have several positions available across various teams and departments on the HPC project.
  • The successful candidates will act as a support structure for their given departments and teams providing administrative and clerical assistance to enhance the efficiency of the project delivery.
  • Developing a good understanding of the HPC project and the business structure is a key part of the role helping to build a network of contacts in the organisation to further improve the business efficiency to help deliver our goals right, first time and in a timely manner.

Key responsibilities and specific accountabilities:

  • Support the wider team with first class administrative and clerical support
  • Have a good understanding of the project and colleagues within the organisation, acting as a liaison and point of contact between your team and the wider business
  • Delivery of training if required
  • Preparation of records for handover to the Document Control team

Essential skills & knowledge:

Technical Skills:

  • Be able to quickly learn new software, and show others how to use it
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Be a self-starter who takes the initiative, is tenacious and be passionate about quality and continuous improvement
  • Have attention to detail and appreciate the importance of accurate record keeping and conforming with project procedures
  • Take ownership of your work and work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Have excellent communications skills and be able to provide training and guidance to people from all backgrounds and all levels of seniority, from site workers to director level
  • Ensure that teams receive the necessary assistance and appropriate processes are being followed
  • Be a good listener and work well with others

Desirable Skills & Experience 

  • Previous experience in administration / document control
  • Previous experience on a construction project
  • Existing knowledge of a digital records system or document control system
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills

Additional Information:

All positions with Bylor are employed directly with either Laing O’Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Public and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes and annual holiday allowance. Some grades will also include a company car allowance.

Unless stated otherwise all positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset. Somerset boasts beautiful English countryside, an attractive coastline, interesting towns and villages along with easy access to the M5 and within proximity to the cities of Bristol and Exeter.
