Somerset County Council are recruiting for an Advisory Teacher – Virtual School / Learning Support Team.
The Somerset Virtual School Learning Support Team is able to offer an exciting opportunity for an Advisory Teacher to join our dedicated team on a full time, term time only contract.
In September 2019 we underwent a restructure which resulted in a new team which combined the Learning Support Team with the Virtual School Team. We are now looking to appoint an excellent inclusive practitioner, who is able to advise and support schools on SEND provision and inclusion, and also provide support for Children Looked After.
Working as part of an experienced and supportive team the role will involve providing high quality support to Somerset schools to develop their ability to strategically manage SEND to ensure schools are fully inclusive and provision impacts on outcomes.
This will include a range of activities such as through staff training and network meetings, strategic discussions and school/SENCO support, and pupil assessments, to ensure children and young people with SEND have positive outcomes and inclusive experiences at school. In addition, you will be expected to hold a caseload of Children Looked After, attending PEP meetings and liaising with a range of professionals to improve progress and achievement and secure high quality education for this vulnerable cohort.
The role will be set at either main pay scale or upper pay scale, teachers’ pay and conditions, depending on your experience and will be countywide, although the majority of work will be in the West of the County with a work base of County Hall, Taunton. Some county-wide and out of county travel may be necessary.
You will be passionate about promoting the education achievement and wellbeing of children and young people with SEND and Children Looked After in Somerset and our role is to ensure we are supporting schools to meet their needs effectively.
