We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Environmental Manager to lead the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) team, which is hosted by Somerset County Council as part of its Economic and Community Infrastructure Team.

Here’s what you can expect to be doing
As the Quantock Hills AONB Manager, you will be responsible for advocating the conservation and enhancement of the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (QHAONB) and delivering the aims and outcomes in the current AONB Management Plan and AONB legislation. You will act as lead officer for preparing and implementing future AONB Management Plans, work programme priorities and provision of advice as guided by the QHAONB Joint Advisory Committee (JAC).
You will need to work effectively, managing relationships with the many land owners and land managers, partner organisations, businesses and local communities of the AONB. You will manage the QHAONB service and budget on behalf of the partnership, constantly seeking ways to maximise conservation and enhancement of the AONB landscape by identifying future trends that will affect the area and developing partnership and external funding project opportunities.
A few things about you
To be successful you will need to have a degree or equivalent in land/environment management, rural conservation, natural heritage, or other related subject and/or equivalent experience. You will have in depth knowledge of current legislation, policies, and practices with respect to AONBs, working knowledge of appropriate land management and environmental techniques covering both natural and built heritage as well as knowledge of issues affecting, research into and best practice for protected landscapes.

The current salary for this role is £34,728 to £38,890 per annum
