Apprentice Receptionist and Clerical Assistant opportunity in Bridgwater.

We are looking for a calm, patient but confident Receptionist/Clerical Assistant to join our growing organisation. The main role will be to support the administration team to run a busy reception for the school.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Provide effective admin support
  • Answer telephone enquiries to ensure that a positive and welcoming service is provided at all times
  • Greet visitors and deal with enquiries
  • Direct visitors and liaise with staff in relation to visitors
  • Ensure security sign-in procedures are carried out for all visitors
  • Address routine enquiries for information and contacting the relevant member of staff to deal with the situation
  • Receive and distribute incoming mail and posting outgoing mail
  • Arrange meetings including refreshments
  • Ensure a safe working environment in the reception area. Liaise with site team in relation to this
  • Ensure teaching staff have recorded student attendance accurately. Print registers for emergency evacuation purposes
  • Inform the class teacher, Attendance Administrator and the Health and Wellbeing Co-ordinator of unknown absences and following up on agreed action
  • Record and maintain accurate and up to date pupil details in SIMS
  • Update medical records for pupils and inform appropriate staff of changes
  • File documents and correspondence, including pupil’s files
  • Create documents as required in support of the teaching and learning
  • Update the number of School Meals taken each week
  • Check Parent Pay
  • Manage the administration of School Trips
  • Follow appropriate income recording procedures to ensure the safety of cash

  • Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that’s part of their apprenticeship. At least 20% of the total hours are to be spent off the job training
