he AMHP Hub is co-located with a Locality Mental Health Social Care Team and a Home Treatment Team, however, you will need to be able to travel across Somerset to carry out Mental Health Act assessments.

Applications are welcomed from AMHPs from other professional backgrounds and newly qualified AMHPs who will be closely supported.
Here’s what you can expect to be doing
We are looking for AMHPs to work in our busy hub in the 24 Hour AMHP Service in Somerset. This is an opportunity to start or develop your career as an AMHP in a supportive and friendly Team which is managed by a practising AMHP. We welcome applications from AMHPs from any professional background.
Monthly supervision, an annual appraisal, and training and development will be provided to ensure you have the knowledge, skills and support to undertake your role. Regular legal update training is provided alongside social care development days.
As a 24 hour service, we can offer some flexibility to working hours. We’re open to applicants looking for full or part time hours. Our Out Of Hours working attracts a percentage premium of 26.3% on top of the basic rate when you work 50% of your hours between 10.00 pm and 7.00 am.
This is what one of the team had to say about working in the hub:
‘For me it’s the brilliant and dedicated colleagues that I work with. I know that there is someone always there if not in person at the end of a phone if I need help or advice.
Also, our business support is excellent and always ready to help when needed.
We also have really good working relationships with our health colleagues’.
A few things about you
You will be motivated to use all your AMHP and social care skills to engage with people and their families in creative ways. Strong social care values, flexibility, a ‘can do’ approach, high standards and the ability to work in a relational way using purposeful conversations will be essential for these roles.
You will bring with you a good understanding of the Mental Health Act and its interface with the Mental Capacity Act and Care Act.
Access to / use of a vehicle is essential due to Somerset being a rural area.
If you are a qualified AMHP who is interested in joining the service, please contact Teri McDonald, AMHP Hub Manager to find out more.
Teri can be contacted via the AMHP Hub on 07811310749.
If uploading a CV please also include a supporting statement confirming how you meet the criteria.
