We are recruiting for an Audit & Review Manager Based at Service Headquarters, Clyst St George, Exeter.

Fixed Term Contract for 12 Months working 37 hours per week.

Grade 7: Salary £35,745-£38,890 Appointments are normally made at the bottom of the scale.

It’s an exciting time to join DSFRS, the largest non-metropolitan fire and rescue service. Fire and Rescue Services are changing and we are no exception.  Our role goes far beyond fighting fires and we are continually looking for ways to improve our effectiveness and efficiency to improve Public and Staff safety. The Service employs almost 2,000 people and has the highest number of fire stations and fire engines outside London.

Internal Audit is integral to our operation; working with every area of the Fire and Rescue Service, undertaking risk-based and compliance-based audit work and providing assurance on governance, risk management and controls.

The role

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual, keen to improve our public services. We need someone who can both manage the Internal Audit Plan and bring practicality, pragmatism and customer focus to the technical elements of the review process. You need to be a strong influencer, a good communicator and be able to move easily between the role of auditing and Audit Manager as the situation requires.

If you are ready for a change and have an appetite for the breadth of work this role offers, this is a great opportunity to take on the additional responsibilities of running a small internal audit function, whilst still carrying out audits yourself.

You will be given relative autonomy to carry out your work and will also manage the day-to-day relationship with our outsourced Internal Audit provider. This role will offer work that is meaningful, interesting and varied.
