Somerset Education Strategy Partnership
“A strong sense of place among teachers and leaders, where head teachers believe in and act out their responsibility to the pupils in their schools and every child in their locality”
Improving Schools: A report of the School Improvement Commission
In Somerset, we want to revitalise the way that education leaders and professionals work together with a sense of collective responsibility for creating excellence for all. We have engaged with a very wide range of stakeholders to understand how to make new arrangements work for them and to capture their ambitions for education in the county.
We intend to constitute a new partnership from September 2021 onwards, and are looking for Board members from as wide a range of education providers as possible. Anyone can apply and seniority is not a requirement. We want to create a high performing team of individuals who will bring the widest range of knowledge, skills and experience to the table.
This is a time of change for Somerset. While the pandemic created enormous stresses, it also brought partners together. The county is awaiting a decision on a unitary model, and this is energising thinking about new ways of organising locally. A recent critical SEND inspection has galvanized efforts to do better for our most vulnerable children. The pressures on rural schools have led to a recent decision to reorganise part of the three-tier system to two-tier, after a decade of uncertainty.
Change brings risk, it also brings opportunity. If you have the energy, creativity, and expertise to help lead us on this journey, there is a seat at the table for you.
If you feel you have the skills, knowledge and experience we are looking for to take up one of these positions we’d love to hear from you or for more information or an informal discussion with the manager for this post, Amelia Walker, please contact her PA, Sarah Osborne email@example.com
