Children’s Social Worker Assessment South Somerset
Somerset County Council have an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker to join our South Somerset assessment team, we can be flexible with hours and can offer either a 30 hour or 37-hour contract.
The key purpose of the role is to assess the level of intervention required to inform future planning and involvement which improves the outcomes for our most vulnerable young people and families in Somerset to encourage positive change.

The Assessment Team is a fast paced and exciting team ensuring that the children and families in South Somerset that are referred to us are assessed promptly and efficiently and receive the appropriate level of support.
We are a friendly team who are passionate about the children and families we work with and we work hard to ensure Children are involved with services at the right level of intervention. We are continuing to improve our practice as a team by embedding strength based planning and use of motivational interviewing to support families to identify opportunities for change and agreeing plans to work towards achieving this with families but also with support from multi-agency partners.

A few things about you
What we’re looking for…
You will be passionate about relationship-based social work, proud of your profession, and able to reflect and think creatively about how you can build relationships to make a difference to children and families. You will be able to quickly build rapports with families due to the nature of the work being very short term. You will be organised and able to effectively manage your time to meet required timescales. Additionally, you will have a clear understanding of threshold and risk management.
The Assessment Team are still working from home however we are completing visits to families. Yeovil is our office base and there are bookable desks in the office if you need to work from there due to difficulties working at home or visits in the area etc.
You will need to be a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England and have experience working with children and families in social work.

Salary £24,690 – £28,157 for 30 hours.
As this role is customer facing you will need to speak fluent English.
