We are recruiting a full time, qualified evidence librarian to join our team for a fixed term of 12 months helping NHS teams across Somerset to access and use evidence and knowledge to underpin patient care, education, lifelong learning, research and innovation.
You will have a postgraduate library qualification and/or first degree and be proficient in accessing databases and resources to conduct complex evidence searches and provide evidence-based summaries in response to a wide range of clinical and non-clinical queries.
Healthcare experience is desirable but not essential as training on healthcare databases can be provided.
You may need to provide virtual or in-person training to library users in the form of assisted evidence searches.
You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, have a proactive approach to customer service and have excellent IT skills.
Home working is flexible and can be negotiated in line with the needs of the service.
The Library and Knowledge Service is hosted Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and operates virtually and from our base at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton. We offer a wide variety of services, resources and facilities to support evidence-based decision-making, quality improvement and patient care to all NHS staff working across Somerset and to health students on placement.
The Library and Knowledge Service staff deliver a busy and proactive service answering enquiries, searching, synthesising and summarising evidence and research information, producing current awareness bulletins, providing information skills training sessions and operating a document supply service. We also have a clinical outreach service taking library services out to staff in their workplaces within the hospital and the community.
