Facilities & Environmental Impact Manager

Somerset Wildlife Trust is one of 46 Wildlife Trusts across Britain which together with the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts collectively form The Wildlife Trusts. We are the biggest charity movement in the UK working solely for nature and we believe that restoring nature on a landscape scale is essential for tackling climate change and biodiversity loss.
Our buildings range from portacabins, to farm buildings, workshops, offices and the development of buildings at Honeygar with associated car parks and other visitor infrastructure. This new role will provide strategic leadership to the management and development of these assets, working with the People, Culture and Resources department to ensure our facilities meet the needs of our people, our business and our environmental impact reduction targets.
Your job tasks will cover:
Taking overall responsibility for the management and maintenance of the Trust’s built estate included reserves workshops, vehicle fleet and associated processes.
Overseeing delivery of our environmental impact reduction measures in relation to our assets and reporting on progress to the Environment Group, Trustees and sub-committees.
Take responsibility for maintain updating and ensuring delivery of the Corporate Risk Register.
Take overall responsibility for ensuring compliance with Health and Safety procedures and legal requirements for vehicles, buildings and public spaces including emergency plans, fire safety, legionella, first aid, electrical testing, work station assessments, COSHH etc (daily responsibility may be delegated to the Business, People & Culture Administrator).
Take responsibility for the management and maintenance of all IT infrastructure, working with the Trust’s IT provider to make improvements
Negotiate and tender, when appropriate, for annual renewal of insurance for the Trust ensuring appropriate cover at all times.
Working directly with the CEO, lead development of the buildings at Honeygar including consultations with staff and trustees to determine key business needs from the site and submitting planning applications when appropriate and other general tasks.
