Head of B2B Sales

Having surpassed £2bn in sales in a record-breaking year and an ambitious growth plan in place, there has never been a more exciting time to join Screwfix. Reporting to the Director of Customer Operations, the Head of B2B is responsible for execution of the B2B Sales strategy and achieving all targets. Through leadership of the B2B team, the Head of B2B will maximise all sales opportunities, proactively create new opportunities and ensure customer retention and growth of spend by understanding and delivering the service needs of our customers.

This is a hybrid role, where you’ll be based in our Head Office in Yeovil 3 days a week, working flexibly around the core office hours of 10am-3pm.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop key growth sales strategies, tactics and action plans to improve service, increase sales and reduce costs.
  • Development of new business opportunities to include pipeline
  • Develop and lead the B2B team to achieve sales targets driven through commercial account reviews, sector knowledge and understanding of customer and market trends.
  • Work with the team to develop and deliver effective strategic account plans to drive sales across all accounts.
  • Direct the team to manage accounts through development and maintenance of customer relationships which promote increased spend though detailed understanding of customer needs and requirements.
  • Work with our marketing and customer insight teams to identify sales opportunities by either growing existing channels or identifying new markets
  • Ensure customer retention and growth spend by understanding and delivering the service needs of our customers.
  • Management of annual budget for exhibitions, expenses, marketing, payroll
  • Bids & Tenders from the Private & Public sector to include pipeline
  • Review all commercial contracts regularly across B2B to make sure they are maximising sales and achieving targets set out from point of sign off, that they are in date and generating the correct level of profit

Required skills and experience

  • Sales driven individual who thrives in a results driven, professional B2B sales environment.
  • Previous experience of leading a B2B Sales team.
  • Customer focus – Proactively seeks customer feedback to adjust and modify service strategy within own area. Manages customer expectations and develops solutions to meet customer needs
  • Communication – Communicates clearly, articulately and with conviction when speaking with an individual or before a group. Adapts content and style to their audience.
  • Influencing and Negotiating – Positively influences others, creating acceptance and support for ideas. Is skilled in negotiation to create win-win solutions. Wins concessions without damaging relationship
  • Relationship Building – Proactively identifies new and important professional working relationships and works to develop them over time.
  • Develops effective working relationships between others within group or team situations.
  • Flexible & adaptable – able to work on own initiative and as part of a team in a challenging, fast paced sales environment
  • Private and public sector industry knowledge is desirable
  • Business plan and report writing skills. Demonstrates the ability to think strategically and analytically.
