Location: Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucester

Salary: £22,961 – £25,086 per annum

Contract: Permanent

Second Step is a leading mental health charity in the South West offering housing, support and hope to thousands of people with mental health and other problems.  Our goal is to inspire hope and deliver change for everybody and every community we work with.

Hope Project

The Hope Project is commissioned by Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group to provide a suicide prevention service for men aged 30-64, we support men across BNSSG. The Hope Project workers work with a wide range of men presenting with a variety of difficulties; some men will have attempted suicide or believe that suicide is their only option, some men will be experiencing distress linked to debt or finance issues, housing issues or employment worries. The service delivers support based on a compassionate approach and client led objectives, using best evidenced assessment of risk and subsequent safety planning. The staff provide both emotional and practical support to this at-risk group.

The Person

This role is an exciting opportunity work in the field of suicide prevention and make a real difference to men who are experiencing distress. You will work as part of a dynamic team, who are all committed to making a difference and preventing suicide in this at-risk age group. We are looking for someone with experience of working with people at risk of suicide and/or experiencing distress and safety planning.

You will have excellent organisational skills and be able build and maintain strong therapeutic relationships with the me using our service. You must have good attention to detail and have a proactive approach to work, and a genuine passion for supporting people with mental health problems. This role is an exciting opportunity work in the field of suicide prevention and make a real difference to men who are experiencing distress.

You will work as part of a dynamic team, who are all committed to making a difference and preventing suicide in this at-risk age group. Ideally, you will be a car driver and have access to a vehicle.
