Hotel Receptionist / Host

We are currently recruiting for a new team member, someone who has a bright personality with a smart, clean and presentable appearance.

You will be

  • A team player with excellent communication skills – able to work on their own and remain calm when under pressure
  • Numerate, with good typing skills
  • Able to sell the hotel, its rooms and facilities at all times to the best of your ability
  • To communicate / liaise with other departments and management effectively and complete additional tasks requested

HOURS AND SHIFTS:

30 – 40 hours a week. Working on a 7-day rota with 2 or 3 days off per week

Working hours: Morning shift 7:30 to 15:30 or Evening shift 15:00 to finish. Times are approximate with some days running a little over the stated times

The Proprietors and Senior Managers

PERSONAL PROFILE:

JOB SUMMARY:

  • To sell the hotel, its rooms and facilities at all times to the best of your ability
  • To communicate / liaise with other departments and management effectively and complete additional tasks requested

MAIN TASKS AND DUTIES

  • To complete both the early and late shift procedures as stated in the handouts
  • To take all reservations & deposits
  • To manage the booking chart effectively
  • To up sell all hotel packages
  • To update the supervisor of any outstanding deposits for rooms
  • To upgrade all rooms at point of check in
  • To allocate all Reslynx bookings correctly and to take all Reslynx deposits
  • To complete the PCI compliance test
  • To keep a running handover throughout the shift and ensure that it is emailed to all at the end of your shift
  • To fill in the reception handover daily check list
  • To be au fait with corporate bookings, commissionable companies and their rates
  • To ensure post goes out daily
  • To file all correspondence correctly
  • To be responsible for running all end of day, end of week and end of month reports
  • Ensure daily banking is correct and filed in the relevant places
  • To answer all guest questions and to be friendly and helpful to all customers that come to reception and ensure a professional image is always given
  • To deal with customer complaints efficiently and, when necessary, calling a member of management
  • To assist in promoting the hotels function facilities
  • To ensure that guest check in and out goes smoothly and that all settlements are correct
  • Reception till to be checked daily and all takings banked
  • E-mails to be responded to as soon as possible
  • To liaise with other department to ensure a smooth running of the hotel
  • Menus to be typed, checked and printed when required
  • All messages to be e-mailed promptly to the recipient
  • Check website weekly and email any changes etc to the Office Manager and Head Receptionist
  • To keep customers details confidential at all times
  • To maintain a professional attitude and behaviour with management, other members of staff and customers at all times
  • To be a team player
