Duties & Deliverables  
•    The purpose of the HSE Advisor role is to ensure the Health and Standards of the HPC project are consistently met. Champion the HPC Way including its pillars in all activities undertaken and play a key role in the site integrated H&S team.  The HSE Advisor will give competent advice across a multi-functional / discipline project. They will Intervene when unsafe practices are observed and offer solutions to observations made.

•    The HSE Advisor will carry out all duties with full regard to all the MEH policies and procedures.  They will build relationships with other Tier 1’s and the Principal Contractor to ensure industry best practice is shared and external governance is complied with.

•     They will monitor the working practices of MEH employees and contractors regarding health and safety, environment and welfare, observe and record ‘At Risk’ & ‘Reduce Risk’ behaviours.  In line with our key values this position holder will demonstrates Humility through sharing success as a team; demonstrates Positivity through always striving for solutions; demonstrates Respect through valuing other points of view; demonstrates Clarity through sharing information simply and concisely and demonstrates Solidarity through adopting a “One Team” MEH approach, ensuring and committing to the “HPC Way”

•     The HSE Advisor will carry out HSE inspections across the site and undertake additional tasks as are reasonably commensurate with the level of the post. They will provide competent specialist advice on identified topics, specifically COSHH. Conduct audits of MEH site activities and sub-contractor operations and record the findings of audit reports and inspections in line with the HSSE Management system requirements.

•    This is a site based, workforce facing role

Minimum Qualifications/ Experience
(as per MEH matrix) 

•    NEBOSH general certificate/NEBOSH construction certificate or equivalent.
•    Strong construction background with a minimum 5 years’ experience.
•    Excellent written and spoken communication skills in order to explain HSE procedures and expectations to a range of people.
•    Working knowledge of the Health and Safety regulations.
•    IT literate – familiar with Microsoft packages. Ideally an individual with a background in COSHH, DSEAR.IOSH membership or similar.

 

 

Additional Qualifications/ Experience:
•    IOSH Membership or similar
•    Suitable site experience in a similar role, preferably in the nuclear industry
•    Willing to undertake Level 3 Award in Education & Training / PTLLS or equivalent if required
•    Basic understanding of Nuclear Site Licence Conditions
•    An investigative mind and a keen eye for detail

To provide competent H&S advice to the MEH Site Team     Responsible for a specific area within the MEH scope of work
