Health and Safety Advisor

MEH Alliance 



• Ensure the Health and Safety standards of the HPC project are consistently met

• Carry out all duties with full regard to all MEH policies and procedures

• Monitor the working practices of MEH employees and contractors regarding health, safety, environment and welfare

• Carry out HSE inspections across the site, including at height, in confined spaces etc.

• Undertake such additional tasks as are reasonably commensurate with the level of the post



Key Deliverables:

• Conduct audits of the MEH site activities and sub-contractor operations

• Record the findings of audit reports and inspections in line with the HSSE Management system requirements

• Intervene when unsafe practices are observed, offer solutions to observations made

Minimum Qualifications/ Experience (as per MEH matrix)

• NEBOSH General Certificate / NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent

• Strong Construction background with a minimum 5 years’ experience

• Excellent written and spoken communication skills in order to explain HSE procedures and expectations to a range of people

• Working knowledge of the Health and Safety Regulations • IT literate – familiar with Microsoft packages



Additional Qualifications/ Experience:

• IOSH Membership or similar

• Suitable site experience in a similar role, preferably in the nuclear industry and/or construction industry

• Willing to undertake Level 3 Award in Education & Training / PTLLS or equivalent if required

• Basic understanding of Nuclear Site Licence Conditions • An investigative mind and a keen eye for detail

• Experience with Human Performance and Behavioural Programmes, including delivery of Human Performance Training

• Preferred candidate o have demonstratable experience in industrial welding operations including weld fume management


Context of role:

To provide competent H&S advice to the MEH Site Team Responsible for a specific area within the MEH scope of work
