IAU Support Staff – Portishead

Our Incident Assessment Unit (IAU) is looking to recruit enthusiastic admin support officers to support Desktop Investigators and police constables in receiving, recording and investigating crimes.

You will provide administrative support to staff within the unit, including circulating images of suspect images to the wider force, updating force databases, liaising with insurance companies and updating the Action Fraud website and liaising with external agencies including Border Force regarding investigation updates.

IAU is a fast paced environment which assists local policing and response officers with low threat/harm/risk investigations. It is a great environment for learning about investigations and crime recording. The teams are friendly and knowledgeable and are a great support to each other.

In this role, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Receiving information and requests for documentation and provide to Officers or third parties.
  • Liaising with Action Fraud/Insurance Companies, and other agencies, both internal and external to the organisation, including production of necessary correspondence and associated documents.
  • Inputting and retrieving data from the relevant force computer systems.
  • Providing general administrative support to the unit, as required.
  • Circulating images of unidentified suspects across the force.

Skills, experience and qualifications required:

  • Computer literacy
  • Understanding of data protection legislation
  • Experience of general office administration
  • Experience of using computer systems to input and retrieve data
  • Good communication skills.

Additional Information

Please note, we have full time or part time positions available, the option which suits your needs will be discussed at the interview in more details. To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 3 year ‘checkable history’ in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years.
