Somerset County Council are recruiting for an ICT Infrastructure Team Leader.
Some excellent new opportunities have arisen within the ICT Department of Somerset County Council. We are looking for 2 Team Leader’s in our core infrastructure operations teams.
The aim of the ICT department here is to embrace new technologies and to employ them to provide quality ICT Services to the people of Somerset, and these roles present an excellent opportunity to get involved with these technologies now as we bring them into the organisation and shape them for the councils future on-going use, as well as to assist us as an organisation in fulfilling our strategic plans and ambitions.
These roles come at an exciting time as we look to get the right people in place in order to proceed at pace with the migration of our largely locally datacentre hosted applications and systems into the Microsoft Azure cloud and vendor SaaS delivery, from where we will support them going forward.
You will be reporting to the Service Manager for the ICT Infrastructure, and tasked with running one of the 4 core Infrastructure teams, responsible for such things as Datacentre, networking, comms and security, server hosting and cloud provisioning, identity, monitoring and reporting, data and application management.
We are looking for an ICT professional to work within one of these operational teams, tasked with managing the staff and ensuring that our infrastructure systems are all highly available, right-sized and with the highest levels of up-time as the guiding principle of operation.
In this role you will be the Team Leader, and while some technical experience around the above technologies would be beneficial, you will be responsible for daily team management of a very busy operations team, a team that are working on multiple large delivery projects as well as running reactive support on those areas, along with proactive management of the systems as well. You will be looking after the appraisals, 1 to 1, Sickness absence management, day to day management and scheduling.
The team proactively manages the systems platforms, and on average handles in the region of 100 tickets a month across all SCC infrastructure Systems, via the service desk.
Main systems of usage will depend on your relevant areas of experiences, but would cover comms and costing, or Identity and delivery, application support or innovation and design.
You will have strong interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate and evidence key business relationship management skills. Flexibility to be able to adapt to the changing needs of the service and associated technologies is a must.
You will have the drive and determination to look for continuous service improvements, follow new technologies and be interested in trends and practices within the Microsoft and business sectors.
As a key member of the team and directorate, the post holder will be expected to promote the image of the County Council and embrace a culture of customer care and professionalism in order to ensure the successful delivery of ICT services to our users bases both internal and external.
