Voluntary position, based at County Hall, Taunton.

Are you interested in local democracy and making a difference? Can you consider reports in an objective and impartial manner? Then why not consider giving some of your time to sit as an Independent Member on the Council’s Audit Committee?

The Audit Committee meets 5-7 times each year at County Hall in Taunton, on Thursday mornings, to oversee the Council’s corporate governance arrangements and reviewing its financial internal controls. This includes monitoring of the internal audit reporting, risk management reporting and the financial reporting process.

Meetings last between 2 -3 approx. and training will be provided. Although this role does not attract any financial recompense, there will be reimbursement of necessary travel expenses and a subsistence allowance. As a co-opted member you may be able to claim a financial loss of earnings allowance and expenses through undertaking this role i.e. attending meetings and briefings.
