Bouygues Travaux Publics (TP) and Laing O’Rourke, two of Europe’s most dynamic engineering and construction specialists, are working together in a joint venture named BYLOR to deliver the main civil engineering works at Hinkley Point C (HPC) worth over £2.8 billion.

Purpose of the role:

This is a technical and engagement role focused on delivering project sites and supporting the business. The purpose of the role is to ensure the business is always operating as effectively as possible from an IT perspective. Due to the nature of the business the role covers many different locations and requires a varied skill set. Travel and overnight stays will be expected, as well as the ability to support multiple locations.

This role will be based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset

 

Implementation:

 

  • Understand the process and requirements for Projects and JV (joint Venture) Clients from simple to complex proposals, including liaison with key stakeholders.
  • Create detailed Project Charter, IT estimating model and supporting documentation (Project plans / Site delivery milestones) for the requirements
  • Liaison with business and supplier with a view to providing regular communications on project updates
  • Implement solutions in line with approved designs (Project Site Blueprint and Infrastructure documentation) from the architecture, infrastructure and implementation teams
  • Delivery against activities in project plans, reporting progress.
  • Manage allocated risks and ensure that any problems are identified at the earliest opportunity and that solutions are identified and implemented, in line with change control processes.
  • Update all documentation / systems ensuring 100% accuracy
  • Complete PIR reviews with the business for the implementations, project management, delivery of the solution, processes and then manage remediation tasks

Business User Support:

 

  • To provide support for the Infrastructure, Business / User applications and user requests, resolving these where possible, or passing to the relevant teams to achieve agreed SLAs.
  • Work with operational support teams to resolve complex support issues, engaging with 3rd parties as required
  • Own the problem through life cycle.
  • To help provide an efficient, cost effective and customer focused support service.
  • To suggest and contribute to service improvements and initiatives.
  • Update all documentation / systems ensuring 100% accuracy

Infrastructure:

 

  • Create detailed design documentation to satisfy requirements
  • Implement solutions in line with designs issued from the architecture team
  • Update all documentation ensuring 100% accuracy
  • Complete IT reviews against implementations and manage remediation tasks
  • Deliver complex infrastructure projects to a standard agreed and approved by management
  • Work with operational support teams to resolve complex support issues, engaging with 3rd parties as required
  • Oversee operational readiness testing and produce comprehensive reports
  • Support the design and development of infrastructure in compliance with IT Group standards
  • Ensure build standards are up to date and fit for purpose

Technical Knowledge:

 

  • Implementation analyst with SME level skills of the following: MS Server OS (all), MS Active Directory, Mitel VoIP solutions, Security standards and controls, WAN Technology, Wired and Wireless LAN technologies, Backup Solutions.
  • Solid knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of enterprise products
  • Solid understanding of Core Infrastructure (hardware, databases, operating systems, local area networks etc.)
  • Competent IP networking skills
  • Principles, methods, techniques and tools for the effective management of projects from initiation through to implementation.
  • Experience of Nutanix and Commvault platforms.

 

Key Skills & Competencies

 

  • Working knowledge of the ITIL framework with specific experience in managing problem, change & incident management
  • Sound decision making with excellent document writing skills
  • Analytical skills, being able to quickly acquire an understanding of a problem or situation and identify practical alternatives weighing up the benefits in order to recommend a solution
  • Ability to understand complex requirements and then to communicate complex systems to non-technical audience within all levels of the business
  • Managing internal / external relationships as a technical subject matter expert
  • Able to participate as a member of a multi-disciplined team
  • Ability to work to fixed and often challenging deadlines
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience of Implementation and Support in a corporate environment
  • Experience working within complex infrastructure environments with structured operating demands.
  • Aware of basic principles of life cycle testing
  • Strong service ethic and excellent communication skills

All positions with Bylor are employed directly with either Laing O’Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Public and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes and annual holiday allowance. Some grades will also include a company car allowance.

Unless stated otherwise all positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset.
