Junior Web Designer / Web Developer

We are recruiting for a Junior Web Designer/Developer with creative flair to join our friendly fast growing organisation. You must be prepared to work 5-6 days from the office.

This is a full time, permanent position with an immediate start and is based in Taunton. Hours: 8 working hours per day, including 30 minutes for lunch. Core Hours 9am – 5pm. Key responsibilities are:

Candidates with no commercial experience would be considered. The candidate will get the rare chance to join a small, growing company as the first web designer/developer.

The successful applicant will become responsible for amending/maintaining the current website as well as the design and build of new websites, email marketing campaigns, and social media.
We expect you to present a good portfolio and have the aspiration to develop and grow your skills.

Key Skills:
• A good understanding of HTML5/CSS, JavaScript and Content Management Systems (i.e. Perch & Word Press). • An ability to deal with domains, servers and hosting issues is also required. • Some understanding in InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Premier Pro would also be an advantage, but is not essential.

THE JOB: As the successful Web Designer, you will be working to produce online marketing in the form of banners and landing pages from concept through to implementation. You will be involved mostly in the graphical aspects of pages, with some technical coding – not just the look of the website, but determining how it works as well. We ask that you have an eye for design and are willing to learn.

Duties will include:
• Designing bespoke marketing in the form of graphic banners and coded landing pages for the website • Adapting external images to fit within the constraints of the website • Assisting with the setup and design of email campaigns • Ensuring artwork adheres to brand guidelines • Ensuring landing pages meet Front-end coding standards and best practices • Responsibility for maintaining the look and feel of the group’s websites on a day-to-day basis • Amending offers, uploading new information, changing creative/layout and building new sites • Producing products that are user-friendly, effective and appealing
