Our client, Portt & Co, are on the search for an Accounting professional who will have experience for five years or more working in financial accounting / management accounting and has held responsibility for reporting and deadlines.

The Role

You will be working on a full time contract and expected to attend the office two days per month with flexible working hours, allowing that your work is completed.

You will report directly to the Finance Manager, whose time will largely be spent undertaking Line Manager activities and providing Finance Director services to clients, you will also receive support from Matt Portt where needed.

You will be expected to develop your own portfolio of Finance Director engagements via new client relationships in time, and directly supervise the work of five bookkeepers/trainee accountants.


Typical Duties :

  • Providing technical support & supervision to colleagues
  • Undertaking balance sheet reconciliations on large / complex clients
  • Production of management accounts on large / complex clients
  • Approving client payment runs
  • Approving working papers / balance sheet reconciliations prepared by others
  • Reviewing profit and loss accounts for accuracy and commenting on financial performance
  • Reviewing VAT returns prepared by others
  • Reviewing basic statutory accounts and tax returns
  • Oversight of client company secretarial matters
  • Developing own portfolio of remote Finance Director services

The Candidate

You will need to be on your way to completing your ACCA / CIMA qualification, or be newly qualified and have at least five years experience in financial accounting / management accounting. You will be comfortable in a position of leadership and responsibility and be an excellent communicator.
