Parking Services Administration Apprentice

Do you have a learning disability and want to become an apprentice? Do you want to receive excellent training to develop your skills whilst you are working and being paid? Do you want to improve your skills in English and Maths?

The role is specifically designed for young people with autism, learning disabilities or learning difficulties.

We are looking for a computer proficient apprentice administrator to join our parking enforcement team. No knowledge of parking regulations is required as full training will be provided, so if you have can use IT equipment and follow agreed systems, read on!

Our parking team deals with all aspects of parking in the county, keeping Somerset moving and ultimately improving the day-to-day lives of our residents and everyone who works in or visits our county.

Here’s what you can expect to be doing

  • Collect from agreed postal area incoming parking post.
  • Open daily post for processing.
  • Separate payments – cheques to be input into parking IT system and collated for processing by cashiers within County Hall.
  • Deliver cheques and associated paperwork to cashiers area at agreed time.
  • Scan received post into parking system.
  • Index and allocate post to relevant case, identified by unique reference number of vehicle registration.
  • Review photo images and allocate to relevant case by vehicle reference or unique reference.
  • Process customer applications for permits by printing on relevant stationary.
  • Prepare and post permits following printing.
  • Deliver outgoing post at agreed time to post room.
  • Review incoming post that relate to standard enquiries (change of vehicle ownership).
  • Prepare and send acknowledgement of change of vehicle. Update IT system on action.
  • Prepare and send to new vehicle owner details of relevant penalty. Update IT system on action.
  • Enter information and data on a variety of spreadsheets. Details will vary depending on purpose.

You will undertake a Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner apprenticeship with the Royal Mencap Society. This apprenticeship will last for between 12-15 months and you will be entitled to spend 7 of your contracted hours per week working on this apprenticeship. A few things about you

You will need to follow guidance and established procedures. A good ability in using IT equipment, including printing and canning.  It is important that you are organised and pay attention to detail.

Entry requirements for the position are a good standard of English and maths.

Salary:  National Minimum Wage Pay Rates for an Apprentice: 16-17: £4.62, 18-20: £6.56, 21-22: £8.36, 23+: £8.91 (per hour)
