Positive Behaviour Support Worker – Waking Nights

Positive Behaviour Support Worker – Waking Nights

Are you ready to REALISE your potential, transforming care for people with learning disabilities? Are you an experienced Support Worker ready for a new opportunity? Then this Positive Behaviour role could be perfect for you!

Realise South West, is our specialist learning disabilities service providing essential LD care to those that need our support with daily living routines in their own homes. We’re looking to expand our team of Full Time Positive Behaviour Support Workers in the HIghbridge area, close to Bridgwater.

As a Support Worker you’ll be joining a fantastic team committed to empowering those with challenging behaviours and/or mental illness. It’s so important for us to make a difference to people’s lives, support and encourage their independence and enable them to lead fulfilling lifestyles. It’s what we do best. Often our customers require two to one care, so you will work alongside your colleagues to provide continuity in care that supports their overall wellbeing.

This Support Worker role will assist a 22 year old female with Down’s Syndrome and Autism who likes to swim, and enjoys order and routine. This young lady would benefit from being supported by someone who has lots of experience in support work or plenty of life experience and some similar interests.

This is a waking nights position meaning you’ll be required to provide care throughout the night between the hours of 8pm and 8am, typically with two or three 12 hours shifts per week, although additional hours can be discussed and are available, including the option of Sleep In shifts. We run our rotas over a three week period and will include working alternate weekends.

If you’ve got flexibility in your working week then we can discuss various shift patterns with you so please do give us a call.

About you

Experience with Learning Disabilities or Mental Health support for adults or children, either through employment or your own personal experiences is required for this role. Recognised care certificates such as NVQ or CQF are desirable but not essential as we can offer training from day one and fantastic career pathways to develop you to gain these qualifications.

Behaviour is often a way of communicating, so one of your most successful skills will be the ability to engage, listen and communicate with people successfully in a variety of ways.. Importantly you’ll understand the complexity of working with challenging behaviours and understand the need to be highly flexible, adaptable and resilient, which in return will unlock and incredibly rewarding career for you. You’ll be warm hearted, friendly and have a natural desire to help. You’ll be a real ‘people person’, able to build lasting relationships and of course work well in a team.

Being a Carer isn’t a job, it’s naturally who you are. Your instinct to care, offer compassion and show kindness is inherent within you. You will love caring for vulnerable people and appreciate the priceless impact your assistance has on those you help.
