Somerset County Council are recruiting for a Post 16 Manager.
The Somerset Virtual School Learning Support Team is able to offer an exciting opportunity for a Post-16 Manager to join our dedicated team on a full time basis.
Somerset Virtual School and Learning Support Team is a multi-functional team, with two key functions. As a Virtual School, our role is around promoting the educational attainment of Children Looked After by the local authority.
As such we work alongside schools, colleges, social care colleagues, and advisory teams to ensure our Children Looked After can achieve well. The Learning Support Team complements this offer by supporting our schools to be inclusive for all.
Our offer for Post-16 young people has evolved over the year, and we now have two education officers who support Post-16 Children Looked After. We are looking for a Post-16 Manager to oversee this team. You will be an integral part of the Leadership Team of the Virtual School.
You will lead on liaison with colleges and support the whole team to provide quality advice and options for Post-16 young people. You may be expected to attend PEP meetings for complex cases, and work with a range of professionals to secure positive outcomes for our young people.
You will be passionate about promoting the education, achievement and wellbeing of Children Looked After in Somerset.
It is not necessary to be a qualified teacher, although some experience of working with young people in a college environment is an advantage. This post will be countywide with a work base of County Hall. Some county-wide and out of county travel may be necessary.
