We are recruiting for a Senior Administrative Assistant.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Admissions and Entitlement team within Inclusion Somerset on a permanent basis.
The Admissions and Entitlement team are a small and very busy team who are responsible for researching and writing school admission and transport appeals and monitoring and processing in year school place applications. The team also co-ordinate starting and transferring school place applications and assess school transport entitlement.
The Admissions and Entitlement team process approximately 5000 in year applications a year and 1000 school admission appeals.
Here’s what you can expect to be doing
We are looking to appoint a Senior Administrative Assistant to provide vital support to this busy and hardworking team. You will primarily be researching and writing school admission appeals including liaising with colleagues, providing advice to parents and schools but may also be required to support with other team activities.
Previous experience of working in a front-line service would be advantageous and good communication and IT skills are essential.

The role requires a good understanding of the Data Protection Act/GDPR. You will need excellent organisational abilities with experience in managing and prioritising your workload to meet challenging demands and deadlines.
You will be a natural and engaging communicator with an excellent command of English both spoken and written, with the ability to produce written statements to ensure the strongest case of appeal is presented.
You will need to be flexible within their work and time management and have the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the service. This is a necessary part of the role, making a positive and committed attitude a necessity.
An understanding of school admission and appeal policies and procedures would also be advantageous but is not essential as this will be learnt whilst embarking on the role.
