Somerset NHS Foundation Trust are excited to offer the opportunity for a Simulation Facilitator, Band 6 to join our thriving and engaging Learning and Development Team.

Are you passionate about facilitating and supporting the development of others?

We have an exciting opportunity for a registered Allied Health Professional (AHP) or registered nurse to support the expansion and development of simulation sessions for all learners while on placement in Somerset NHS Foundation trust.

You will have the opportunity to work with AHP and nurse learners to help deliver simulation learning sessions to enhance the clinical placement offering.

As a team our aim is to support all learners across the Trust by supporting our fantastic clinical and non clinical teams with development and learning.

We support and facilitate these excellent learning opportunities across the Trust by working closely with supervisors in practice, our University partners and our learners.

You will work closely with the clinical teams supporting learners in practice and facilitate the implementation of simulated learning sessions. .

 

Main duties of the job

To work with clinical teams to develop multidisciplinary simulations to enhance the learning opportunities for learners on placement

Responsible for the support of students/learners across Somerset NHS Foundation Trust

Liaise and engage with multiple Higher Education Institutions to support learner placements

Provide support and educational input for staff and students across the Trust

Work with the team to enhance the quality of the practice learning experience and positively contribute to the future workforce across Somerset NHS Foundation Trust

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Job Purpose

  • An opportunity for a registered Allied health profession or nurse to develop and expand the simulation offering to learners while on placement in Somerset Foundation Trust to support clinical placement expansion.
  • To work with clinical teams to develop multidisciplinary simulations to enhance the learning opportunities for learners on placement
  • Responsible for the support of Students/Learners across Somerset NHS Foundation Trust
  • Liaise and engage with multiple Higher Education Institutions to support Learner placements

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Facilitate and support in simulation involving all learners within the Multi-disciplinary Team
  • To collaborate with Placement Teams to implement strategies for improvement of the learning experience for students and staff
  • To coordinate the evidence for the Quality Framework submissions to HEE
  • Be an active member of appropriate committees
  • To be the operational lead for promoting, developing and supporting the quality of learning environments which ensure the workforce is fit for purpose
  • Work in partnership with the team and the University placement team to negotiate and ensure appropriate numbers of students are allocated to placements
  • Ensure the practice learning environment is an effective placement for students to meet the competencies required of the particular module they are undertaking and meets the required standards
  • Think innovatively and creatively working with Teams to maintain and where possible increase placement capacity
  • Participate in facilitating feedback to the practice placement area and HEI following student evaluation and ensure the feedback is used to improve the student learning experience
  • Escalate any serious untoward incidents involving students as per current policies
  • Support supervisors with complex or challenging student assessments and in making valid and reliable decisions about student progression
  • Maintain working relationships with all members of the multi-professional team with in the learning environment
  • Work in partnership with the Preceptors to support recruitment and transition of students to registered practitioners
  • The post holder will work autonomously and as a positive role model in providing leadership to all healthcare professionals within the team
  • To promote quality patient care, through the continuing education of all members of colleagues and students
