Simulator & Training Facility Maintenance Engineer

  • PAYE Contract (+ 33 days paid leave)
  • Circa £300-350.00 per day PAYE
  • 40 hours per week

Simulator & Training Facility Maintenance Engineer: Responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the HPC Simulator platforms & Training Facilities. This will require supporting the specification & implementation of the facilities, day to day preventative maintenance activities and frontline investigation and diagnostics to ensure the facilities remain fit for purpose to meet the needs of the training programme.

This will directly support the achievement and maintenance of a fully competent workforce through all stages of the HPC project.

 

Principal Accountabilities

•    Act as a technical expert to inform the HPC project design with respect to the technical training requirements of the HPC Simulator & Site Training Centre
•    Act as the technical expert to ensure effective installation & testing of the simulator & technical training facilities
•    Provide front line diagnostic and maintenance support to ensure the simulator & training facilities are available to meet the training need.
•    Develop & implement operation & maintenance guidance documentation for managing the Simulator platforms to ensure the required availability.
•    Develop and maintain the required configuration control requirements to ensure the simulator platforms maintain alignment with the specified reference configurations
•    Maintain oversight and manage the export licence requirements associated with data exchange with contracted service providers.

 

Essential
•    High Education qualified (HNC/HND) in a technical based subject or able to demonstrate equivalent experience
•    Experience of operating and maintaining specialist computer modelling equipment and architecture, including experience with multiple operating systems such as Unix/Red hat, Windows and server management.
•    A good understanding of “safety from the system” principles
•    Excellent organisational, communication and influencing skills with experience in customer and stakeholder relations.
•    Strong IT skills including standard applications such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
•    First-hand experience specifying and delivering specialist computer modelling equipment

 

Desirable
•    Experience of operating and maintaining training facilities and systems, their applications and interfaces including simulator platforms.
•    Experience of supporting a broad range of technical disciplines, with particularly emphasis on C&I.
•    A good understanding of the key aspects of a modern simulation training platform
•    Sound knowledge of network infrastructure
•    First-hand experience specifying and delivering a simulator platform
