Here’s what you can expect to be doing
The role of the Streetworks Inspector is to support the delivery of the Councils Street Works responsibilities undertaking inspections to ensure that all work activities carried out in the public highway are undertaken in compliance with the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA), the Traffic Management Act 2004 (TMA), the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions, the Authorities Permit Scheme and any national guidance and Codes of Practice.
The role will involve dealing with a wide range of statutory undertakes, members of the public and internal stakeholders using bespoke software packages to inspect and enforce both NRSWA 1991 and the requirements of the Somerset County Council permit scheme.
A few things about you
You will have some inspection experience gained in a highways, engineering or construction environment. Ideally you may have some knowledge of NRSWA 1991, Permitting, TMA and the Highways Act, or experience in the Street Works Industry would be useful but not essential.
You will organised, have strong ICT skills and confidence in dealing with people is essential. You will also hold a valid driving licence and be confident in your ability to collect and record information accurately.
The post requires a high degree of lone working, requiring contact with the public, statutory agencies and you will be required to undertake site visits and meetings.
The ability to travel regularly to sites throughout Somerset is essential for this role.
The salary for the role is Grade 12, ranging from £22,183 to £25,481 per annum
