Sustainability Apprenticeship

Being a responsible business is one of Screwfix’s core priorities. As Sustainability Coordinator you will support the Sustainability Manager in enabling the delivery of Screwfix’s bold sustainability ambitions in a fast-paced, exciting environment. The role involves providing sustainability support, assisting with data work and communicating relevant information to colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders.

Alongside this sits a level 4 apprenticeship which will develop you as a sustainability professional and requires commitment inside and outside of work, which will include 2+ years of learning supported by an external learning coach and internal mentor, 20% of the apprenticehsip will be within working hours in addition to home learning. A passion for sustainability and fantastic communication skills are essential qualities. Working cross functionally in this diverse role, you will be important in driving the responsible business agenda throughout Screwfix.

Key responsibilities

  • Sustainability strategy
    • Work with the Sustainability Manager to support project management and deliver targets and initiatives of Screwfix’s sustainability strategy and programme.
  • Sustainability policies
    • Support delivery of Kingfisher and Screwfix sustainability policies.
    • Ensure sustainability policies and processes are up to date and well communicated with colleagues companywide.
    • Provide colleagues with guidance on sustainability policies and processes.
  • Communications
    • Compiling and ensuring accuracy of sustainability information for internal and external communications.
    • Assist with identification, creation and sharing of compelling communications via appropriate channels and platforms.
    • Coordinate work with Communications teams to ensure that messaging around important achievements, activities and events is amplified.
    • Providing sustainability information for stakeholders on request.
  • Data work
    • Collection, analysis and dissemination of data required for internal and external compliance and reporting.
  • Assist the sustainability manager with ad-hoc, reactive sustainability work (PR, information requests, research, etc.) when required.

  • Teamwork & Collaboration-Recognises the importance of working collaboratively across the business. Knows how to get things done cross functionally.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Would suit an entry level candidate with a high level of enthusiasm for sustainable business, who meets the entry requirements for a Level 4 Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Apprenticeship.
  • Personally motivated, with a track record of taking accountability to deliver results.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately, through both written and verbal means and with a diverse range of people and stakeholder types.
  • Excellent administration, organisation and time keeping abilities.
  • Prior commercial and quality experience beneficial.
  • Must be a team player, energetic and able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills with drive and self-motivation.
