Your Work Your Way pilot

Your Work Your Way pilot comes to Taunton

A new pilot scheme, Your Work Your Way (YWYW) is coming to Taunton to support families out of poverty living.

The pilot is a research project to provide funding to support potential second earners in households with children, into training/employment and help them move the household out of poverty.

YWYW is a twelve month funded initiative by the Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) and Barclays until October 2022 which is being piloted in a total of four arears of the UK including: Bury, Coventry, Luton and Taunton

Did you know 75 per cent of children growing up in poverty live in a household where at least one person works. (CPAG)

Are you a parent with a partner who works? Have you ever wondered:

  • Whether you working would give your family more money?
  • If you could get childcare to go back to work?
  • About training to do a different job now you have children?
  • If you could get help to consider these questions?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes and you:

  • Have a partner who is working
  • Have children
  • Are receiving Tax Credits or Universal Credit (or are entitled to but not claiming them)
  • Live in Taunton

Then contact the Your Work Your Way programme for some personal support to explore your employment / training options and see how much having a second income in your household could improve your finances.

YWYW does have a criteria:

  1. Family must be in receipt of UC or Tax Credits
  2. Have a partner who is working
  3. Living in Taunton

YWYW Offers:

  • Time with Personal Support Coach
  • Explore options – training/employment
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Practical Employability Support
  • Personal Support Budget
  • Welfare Rights advice – financial health check (not linked to DWP)
  • Access to Barclays Thriving Local Communities Fund
