(How it works)
What is a Jobs Fair?
A jobs fair, also known as a career fair, job expo or career expo, is generally a one day event in which employers and recruiters can exhibit at to give information to potential employees about jobs and opportunities available within that company.
It’s a great way for job hunters visiting on the day to chat to employers face-to-face about potential positions and to also find support services for things like CV writing advice and guidance.
You can expect a range of employers to be available on the day from a variety of sectors from Hospitality to Engineering.
It’s not just about “jobs” on the day, we also have support from job clubs, The National Careers Service and details for those looking to start up a new business plus some information about apprenticeships.
What should I wear?
Ideally you should look smart & presentable. You can make an impression and dress up if you want to make a good first impression.
Smart attire demonstrates that you are a competent and motivated individual with a passion to get ahead in your career.
What should I bring with me?
You can bring a few copies of your CV, if you have one and your mobile phone which can be handy. We would also suggest a small bottle of water. It can be thirsty work talking!

Arriving on the day
How are you arriving? Do you know the venue? Can you park?
All important details for making your attendance stress free. Do a little research to alternative car parking and make sure you can easily pay for parking, if required.
Upon arrival you’ll be welcomed by our staff.

This might sound a little odd, even daunting but you can really enjoy a jobs fair! You maybe be feeling nervous and overwhelmed but remember this is an opportunity for fact finding, researching and making connections. You might be asked to attend an interview and they might even want to chat with you more on the day.
Be open minded to opportunities! Example, If you see a care company or an engineering company but you’re neither a carer or an engineer don’t walk past. They will often have a range of opportunites available.
Introduce yourself and start asking questions.
The employer/recruiter will understand you maybe feeling nervous, they might be too!
You’d generally see a number of exhibitors with their dressed table around a room like these below. They should have information available that you can take away with you and details of how to get in touch with them.
